Book - Cycling Japan (Monochrome)
During the monotonous and lengthy journey, what sustained me were all the unexpected and unpredictable "Proustian moments," one after another. These moments weren't limited to memories ignited by scents; they were triggered by the overlap, displacement, and continuation of different times and spaces, brought about by the interplay of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch at specific moments. They kept me tethered to my journey.
The similarities between primeval forests and modern architecture, the shared experiences of travelers, the coexistence of disaster and life, the same scenery seen thousands of kilometers apart, and the fleeting moments of shared sorrow with those who came before, evoked by what lay before my eyes… all these were the moments I pursued and the nourishment of my life.
